Our Experience

Facility Supervisor of the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility, managing front-office operations and undertaking risk management and financial strategy development and implementation. Risk Surveyor on major hotel, industrial/commercial, retail and telecommunications accounts on behalf of regional and international brokers and the global reinsurance industry. Hazard and risk mapping, modelling and analysis for the regional insurance and international reinsurance industry, regional Governments and the global development and financing institutions including the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Caribbean Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Strategic Partnerships

Captive administration and risk management, with extensive regional experience working with captive insurers and captive managers domiciled in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Saint Lucia and the Turks and Caicos Islands. CaribRM works closely with the pre-eminent regional re/insurance intermediaries, including the CGM Gallagher Group, as well as with other regional and international re/insurance brokers and captive managers. Dr. Akiba Reid

Managing Director

Akiba has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, insurance, risk management and climate change adaptation throughout the U.S.A and the Caribbean. She leads the small yet highly regarded analytics team in product development and optimization for micro-insurance and parametric insurance products; market trends analysis; risk assessments and events monitoring. She oversees the production of a quarterly natural hazards newsletter which is distributed globally to a network of re/insurers and other stakeholders.

Dominic Crosskill

Catatrosphe Risk Analyst

Dominic earned a BSc. in Actuarial Science (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies, and has been an Associate of the Society of Actuaries since 2008. He manages the catastrophe modelling team and has responsibility for risk modelling (probability exceedance curves, vulnerability and hazard assessment, creation of damage functions, loss estimation) in addition to primary responsibility for conducting dynamic financial analysis work for clients, as well as assisting in the development and pricing of parametric insurance products. He supports Brokers with relevant analytics to finalize reinsurance placement and structure in key markets in which the company and our clients operate.

Shane Pinder

GeoInformation Specialist, Risk Modeler

Shane is a Geoinformation Specialist with more than 18 years of progressive work experience in the private and public sectors across the Caribbean. Shane's area of specialization is in the application of geoinformatics in the modeling and analysis of spatial based problems. He has a strong background in geospatial data collection using traditional positioning technologies, remote sensing and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and has combined this with a passion for research and the application of these technologies in disaster risk management. This expertise has been leveraged within CaribRM in Shane's leadership on projects within Central America and the Caribbean for micro-insurance projects dealing with the impact of climate change and exposure to weather related hazards and earthquakes.

Kirk Brown

Disaster Risk Management / Environmental Specialist

Kirk has 18 years of experience in natural resource management, environmental management systems and environmental impact assessment (EIAs) working with private and multinational companies and as a consultant. He has routinely provided technical assistance to project proponents by applying strategic management tools such as environmental impact assessment, environmental management systems, contingency plans and risk assessment. Specifically, Kirk has conducted environmental impact assessments throughout the Caribbean for dredging harbors, establishing solid/hazardous waste management facilities, factories, mining operations, wastewater treatment plants, hotels, housing developments and power generation plants. He has conducted field surveys, collected air and water quality data, held consultations meetings with key stakeholders and presented the EIA study findings at public consultation meetings.
